1 GPA 10th Anniversary Nominations Launched 10 Years Celebrating Icons of Innovation 2 16 December 2011 at the Banquet Hall Time 7:30 - 3 GPA Libraries for Communities Project 2010 4 5 6 Initiatives  Over the years, the GPA Awards have introduced several groundbreaking initiatives, including  The GPA Business Class: a highly-subsidised entrepreneurship programme, GPA-  Knowledge: global think-tank and network of past GPA Awards winners, leading entrepreneurs  and professionals, GPA Africa Policy Group: which brings together Africans who share in the  goal of transforming the African continent into the new frontier of business and sustainable  development, The GPA Foundation, the charitable arm which aims to provide support for  disadvantaged Ghanaians, charities, NGO’s both in the UK and Ghana. GPA Conference,  Launched in 2007, is annual forum to discuss pertinent leadership, business and social issues  facing a growing continent to compete in the Global village.  GPA 10th Anniversary Celebrations in Ghana As part of our strategy for growth and expansion, the GPA launched its drive to extend the  principle of rewarding and promoting excellence to Ghana first and Africa shortly. The premier  awards were held at the plush State House, Accra, Ghana in December, 2010. The event was  launched by Osagyefuo Amoatia Ofori Panin, Okyenhene at the La Palm Royal Beach Hotel.   2011 marks ten years of GPA celebrating and showcasing achievement. The 10th anniversary  theme dubbed: “10 years Celebrating Icons of Innovation”, reflects ten years with crème de la  crème of the British Ghanaian and African community with emphasis on creativity, innovation,  excellence while promoting ethics and integrity. It is expected that a large proportion of UK past  awardees and nominees will be attending the 10th Anniversary celebrations.   Central to the GPA’s move to Ghana is to highlight the largely unique professional and  entrepreneurial skills in Ghana and harness these skills to affect and impact the global village.  The awards will also be used to inspire emerging young professionals and executives to develop  a mindset of becoming globally savvy while transforming their business and professional  environment to perform at world class levels. With the emphasis on young people, It is hoped  that the awards categories for young people will provide a platform to identify a new breed of  global leaders, a paragon for Africa. Finally, it is expected that the event will encourage and  persuade enterprise and executives to engage in social responsibility initiatives thereby moving  from success to significance Encouraging Young Entrepreneurs & Executives To Strive for Excellence In our bid to provide young people with opportunities to build leadership, management and  entrepreneurial skills for sustainable development, The GPA’s in Ghana have introduced four  categories dedicated to young people. It is hoped that the awards for young people will provide a  platform to identify a new breed of global leaders, a paragon for Africa. Additionally, this  groundbreaking event will reward all sectors transcending public, private and not-for-profit in  order to collaborate and to provide an enabling environment where enterprise thrives. The  awards are also to encourage and instill pride in our own, encouraging Ghanaians to appreciate  all our resources including our human capital which in our opinion is Ghana’s greatest asset.   Finally the object of the awards is to promote and encourage our Professionals and Executives  to engage in social responsibility hence pivotal to every award category and criteria is the  emphasis on Social Responsibility. Thus, the GPA Foundation, the charitable arm  hopes use the event to fundraise  and launch The “GPA Children’s Libraries for communities Project” which  aims to provide in 3 phases Children’s  Libraries in deprived Communities in Ghana over a five  year period.    Support for Children’s Libraries in disadvantaged inner city Communities in Ghana
