The GPA’s launch in Ghana in 2009 started a crusade to persuade and encourage Social Responsibility in our executives and Small and medium enterprises (SME’s). To herald and push this drive, the GPA Awards identified the lack of reading skills in our school children as a crises waiting to happen. We also identified the lack of reading and ICT facilities in our Urban, peri-urban and rural school children in Ghana. Having identified the problem, we decided to be part of the solution to the problem. In December 2010, The GPA Children’s Libraries for Communities Project was launched, to provide in three phases Children’s Libraries in deprived communities i in Ghana. The Libraries project is expected to be carried in partnership with Enterprise (Corporates in Ghana and Africa) as well as our development partners as contribution to help achieve the Millennium Development Goals (MDG’s). With your Partnership and support, deprived school children in Ghana will have the opportunity to gain reading and ICT skills through the GPA Libraries for Communities Project.
