GPA 10th Anniversary Nominations Launched
10 Years Celebrating Icons of Innovation
Accra, Ghana, September 5, 2011. The call is out now for Nominations for the various
GPA Awards Categories. to be recognised at the 10th Anniversary Gala Dinner and GPA
Awards event on 18th December 2011, in Accra. Closing date for the nominations is
31st October 2011.
On the occasion of their 10th Anniversary, the GPAs assertion to have emerged as an
unparalleled annual calendar event for Ghanaians and African professionals in the
United Kin gdom is even truer. It has been regarded not only as a prestigious and
“cutting-edge” event cutting across the divide, but also a platform highly sort after by
Ghana’s UK professionals and entrepreneurs. The GPA through its programmes is
engineering a paradigm shift for Leadership, Creativity, Innovation, Dedication and
Excellence in Ghana and Africa at large.
GPA Libraries for Communities Project 2010
In 2008, the GPA launched its drive for expanding into new markets including Africa. In
2006, The GPA Foundation, the charitable arm which aims to provide support for
disadvantaged Ghanaians, charities, NGO's both in the UK and Ghana was launched.
Over the years, The GPA Foundation in the UK supported a number of NGO's and
Charitable initiatives including the Lighthouse Charity, Breast Cancer Charity, The DWIB
Leukaemia Foundation, Osu Children's home, Cape Coast eye clinic, Battered Wives
Charity and the Africa Cancer Organisation.
The GPA's in Ghana will be no different. We have started a crusade to persuade and
encourage Social Responsibility in our executives and Small and medium enterprises
(SME's). To herald and push this drive, the GPA Awards identified the lack of reading
among our school children as a crises waiting to happen. We also identified the lack of
reading and ICT facilities in our inner cities a for school children in Ghana. Having
identified the problem, we decided to provide the solution to the problem.
Support for Children’s Libraries in disadvantaged inner city Communities in Ghana
In our drive to promote and encourage Professionals and Executives to engage in social
responsibility initiatives, the GPA’s have entrenched in all award categories and criteria
an emphasis on Social Responsibility. Hence the GPA Foundation would Launch the First
ever “GPA Children’s Libraries for communities Project” which aims to provide in three
phases Children’s Libraries in deprived Communities in inner cities in Ghana. We believe
that the libraries would offer disadvantaged children the opportunity to gain and
expand their knowledge as well as learn new skills including ICT training. Companies
which sponsor the ‘Libraries Project’ will be included as Platinum sponsor of the main
event and receive the same benefits as per level sponsored. The GPA is offering
companies the opportunity to cement their Corporate Social Responsibility and leave a
legacy for generations to come.
In Partnership with Local Companies, Multinationals and Microsoft Afri, deprived school
children in Ghana will have the opportunity to gain reading and ICT skills through the
GPA Libraries for Communities Project. A number of Traditional chiefs in Ghana have
also lent their support to this laudable project.
